Places to Visit in Waltham Forest

Book our minibus hire in Waltham Forest for a taste of this Borough. Notable places to see/visit include:

Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge: Located on Rangers Road, this Lodge was built in 1543 for King Henry VIII. Today, it’s among the few surviving timber-framed buildings in the borough.

Waltham Forest Town Hall: Formerly known as Walthamstow Town Hall, it was designed and constructed between 1937 and 1942. It is a beautiful example of classical stripped 20th century architecture made from Portland stone and greatly influenced by Swedish building architecture.

William Morris Gallery: This the childhood home of William Morris, a founding father of the Crafts and Arts Movement. The gallery stands in a Georgian villa that dates back to around 1750 and it is said that William Morris actually lived there between the years 1848 and 1856. Today it contains lots of artefacts, such as wallpaper, tapestry, tiles and furniture, all showing the genius that was Morris in design matters.

Walthamstow Market: This claims to be the longest street market in Europe. It occupies all Walthamstow High Street except the last 100 metres. A cross between a souk and a usual East End street market, there is perhaps no better venue place to have a glimpse of the multicultural and vibrant character of the borough.

Walthamstow Marshes: This is the venue where the first all-British powered flight was carried out in July 1909. It was from here that Alliot Verdon Roe’s Avro 1 triplane took to the skies.
